Saturday's victory came off the back of an outstanding third quarter where all players were able to put a streaky, but for the most part, lacklustre first half behind them and get back to playing the brand of footy that we train and want to be known for. Strong contributions were made right across the park with Nick Biscontin carrying over his early season good form down back, Dan Kelly, Ben Embleton and Adam Barclay doing plenty of grunt work in the middle while James Kroussoratis up forward added his weekly entry for goal of the year amongst his bag of 6.
Once again, our young brigade of Artin Cabdi, Mikey Edwards, Riley Keath and Shaun Tanundtanud stood up and showed maturity beyond their years while Daniel Coulson, making his senior debut playing in the ruck, was also a strong contributor. It was two outstanding four quarter performances from Scott Gumbleton and Matt Yarwood, however, both in steadying the ship and then getting us going again in the second half, that were crucial in securing the victory, Gumby's efforts being recognised with the Dave "Pigga" Williams Medal for best afield.
While the brief lapses in concentration that we have shown in our first three games need to be ironed out, it is always pleasing to come away from a quality opposition's backyard with 4 points and we now look forward to a huge game against South Morang in two weeks.
