Match Report:
We took on a vastly improved West Heidelberg teem and struggled to get any run in a first quarter where a combination of quality attacking football by the Hawks and us making poor decisions going inside 50 restricted us from hitting the scoreboard. Fortunately we are able to regroup at quarter time and from then on, despite some average kicking at goal, work our way back into and run away with the game. Once again James Kroussoratis was a focal point up forward finishing with six goals and assisting in several others whilst for the most part, battling two opponents. Down back, best on ground Jacob Smith and Nick Biscontin, who was returning after a two game absence with injury, were both outstanding. As always Devon McDonald, Dan Kelly and Kieran Malone did the strong work around the stoppages while Scott Gumbleton played a great captain’s game covering a lot of km’s around the ground. We now look forward to a week off before a return bout away with Epping.

Match Report:
In a perfect day for footy we traveled to west h/berg for another important must win game. It was going to be a battle all day and west threw everything at us in the first half , the amount of numbers that they would put behind the ball was making it very hard to hit targets deep in the forward line . Once we made some changes at half time we were able to start moving the ball a lot better witch then resulted in our forward getting a lot more of the footy. The result of the quicker ball movement meant that they were struggling to get there numbers back and the game really started to open up with 5 goals in the 3rd and 4th was late reward for the effort that was put into the second half. With a number of injured players starting to come back spots are now starting to get harder to get so training attendance is even more important .

Playing away from home against one of the elite teams in the competition was always going to be a difficult task, made even more challenging as we only had 16 men to play with. Although the result was far from ideal, there were some promising signs to take away from the game.Zak,managed to snag his first goal for the club in his debut, and showed plenty to suggest he’ll be a handy pick up going forward.Recently inducted member into the Banyule Team of 50 years,Ben Nethercote played an immense midfield game again.leaving seniors coach Pete Davey almost no choice but to select him into the seniors 22 sooner rather than later.Jye Stevens also pressed his case for a seniors call up,with a huge disposal best on ground preformance. The backline battled hard, and the forwards didn’t get a whole lot of opportunity, with the only two goals being kicked by Zak and C-Rod. Its not always easy to take positives away from such a one sided affair, however often its losses like this that can bring the team closer together and motivate us to lift. Also worth noting that Macca had a few touches.
